Intuitive Wellness hosts Labor & Delivery, The 4th Trimester: Postpartum Thursday with Diane Gioioso L.AC. & M.AC. for practitioners, birth workers, doulas, midwives, bodyworkers. We will resume our partner stretching & prenatal and birth support offerings for practitioners & families with workshops on supporting the mother through specific nutrition and pressure points relevant to each stage of pregnancy & the development of the baby's organ systems. We will offer credited workshops for the First, Second & Third Trimester Care as well as learning forums for expectant families.
Shiatsu Essentials
We are pleased to offer our next Acupoint Prescriptions for Health community education for friends, partners and family 11:00-1:00pm on April 20, 2024 and Seasonal Shiatsu Essentials for Practitioners 4 CEUs from 11:00-3:30 pm. Both sessions will offer seasonal acupoints and partner body-work for Spring health concerns. Learn and exchange acupoints that you can perform anywhere…. in the airport, the gym, at home when someone needs support and relief. Professionals receive guided instruction identifying and applying points.

Dr. Niya Werts offers Shiatsu, Acupressure, Massage Therapy, and Japanese Herbology (Kampo). Her intention is to work from the heart to bring you back to center. Dr. Werts is an American Organization of Bodywork Therapies of Asia Certified Practitioner (AOBTA CP) and a Zen Shiatsu Alliance Certified Zen Shiatsu Practitioner (CZSP). She is a graduate of the Japanese Herbology Program of the New York City Kampo Institute. She has taught exercise science, nutrition, health education, and shiatsu at the college and professional levels for over 18 years. She is an Associate Professor of Health Science at the University of Maryland at Baltimore Graduate School.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, reassigned to the outbreak investigation team as a lead infection control advisor. Conducted site visits and advised on infection control in congregate living settings including long term care facilities, homeless shelters, assisted living facilities, substance use rehabilitation centers, and long term care facilities. Reviewed and updated the outbreak team on changes to infection control guidance from the CDC and Maryland Department of Health.

Patrons are no longer required to wear masks, however one will bee provided for you at your request . Your practitioner will wear mask before entering & during services as they come in close with many . Please make is aware if you or anyone in your household is immunosuppressed, a transplant recipient, undergoing chemotherapy or managing an autoimmune disorder so that we may take further measure to support your wellbeing.
Prenatal massage is offered after the 1st Trimester or 13th week of pregnancy as long as there are no contraindications or concerns such as high blood pressure, intense or pitted swelling or your health care provider or physician advises against receiving bodywork.
Postnatal body work is tailored to support a mother's transitions after labor & delivery & miscarriage. Special attention is given to ilio-sacral & pelvic shifts, and to neck & shoulder strain related to caring for a newborn . We give particular focus to the impact of nursing and feeding postures. Postnatal bodywork can begin as soon as a mother' feels ready to receive as long as she is not expressing any contraindications to receiving bodywork, such as: pre-eclampsia, very heavy bleeding, high blood pressure, swelling or disturbed vision or breathing.
