The Moment is Giving "Ctrl- Alt- Delete": Letting go...mid free fall.

Updated: 4 days ago

For those of us that prefer structure and order: No thank you, Chaos.
For those of us that prefer structure and order: No thank you, Chaos.

When the 2020 shutdown hit, I fought it like a cat avoiding bath time—flailing, scrambling & determined I could problem-solve & persevere my way out of something that I had never faced. The harder I pushed forward, the clearer it became that what had worked for me in the past wasn't going to cut it.

The overwhelm and uncertainty we are moving through right now brings me back to 2020 when disruption of familiar systems made way for us to approach things differently and design a new vision for how to move forward.

When I reflect on 2020, It wasn’t until I finally surrendered (after a dramatic amount of hikes, strategizing, grant submissions and online coursework) that I began to see new possibilities—ways to connect, support, and truly listen to my clients in ways I hadn’t considered before. I surrendered, adapted, had time to heal a hand fracture, and was able to access my intuition and create beyond a place of exhaustion.  Our community continued to be our greatest resource, reminding me that even in stillness, there was movement, growth, and deep connection.

In the end, what felt like a devastating derailment turned out to be an invitation to reimagine, adapt, and create something more beautiful than I ever imagined. I was given time to reconnect to what I wanted to create and vision. So here we go on another round of growth and adaptation. Letting go and landing exactly where we belong- Even when it means bypassing comfort and cleansing ourselves of old ways of doing things.

When have you had to Ctrl-Alt-Delete your life?

Feeling Overwhelmed? Here Are 5 Simple Ways to Reset 🌿

If you’ve been feeling a little (or a lot) overwhelmed lately, you’re not alone.

Life has a way of piling on, and sometimes our minds and bodies just need a pause—a reset. So we pulled together five gentle, simple practices to help you slow down, ground yourself, and start to feel a little more like you again:

1. Breathe on Purpose

When everything feels like too much, one of the most powerful things you can do is… breathe. Try this: Inhale through your nose for 4 counts, hold for 4, exhale through your mouth for 6. Repeat a few times and feel your nervous system begin to shift.

2. Play Music That Soothes or Moves You

Music can shift your energy in seconds. Whether it's calming instrumental, upbeat jams, or nostalgic favorites, let the right sounds carry you through the moment. Bonus points if you sing along or dance it out.

3. Rest—For Real

Rest isn’t a reward, it’s a requirement. Give yourself permission to unplug, take a nap, daydream, go to bed early, log off or simply do nothing for a bit. Your body will thank you.

4. Drink Water & Nourish Yourself

Overwhelm can make us forget the basics. Refill your water bottle and aim for a real meal—something with color, protein, and love. Hydration and good food are quiet but powerful forms of self-care and you don't have to earn them.

Also prioritize your bladder and your blood sugar over tasks. Listen to your body.

5. Voice Memo Mind Dump

If your brain feels cluttered, do some stream of consciousness journaling or grab your phone and hit record. Talk it out—no filter, no judgment. Getting your thoughts out of your head and into the open, with a safe person (even just to yourself) can bring surprising clarity and relief. Siphon off the pressure and release your thoughts.

When I lost some fine motor skills, I defaulted to fighting & flailing. Then eventually surrendering & adapting to voice memos & e-journaling to clear head space for the things I need to focus on. Letting go of cluttered thoughts clears space for you.

One More Suggestion if I may:

Feel Your Feelings

Pushing negative emotions and thoughts away often just delays and magnifies them. When we push them way waaaay down, they often show up as pain and disorders in our physical and mental bodies. Instead of creating "issues in your tissues", trust in your capacity to manage your thoughts and feelings and let them pass.

Get curious. Observe them, allow them to pass through you and if need be label them.... Think: "hmmmm...that's Grief", "hmmmmm....Judgement ", "Planning" , " Problem Solving", 'hmm, Fear", "Resentment", "Disappointment" , "Frustration...", "Control" , Non-Acceptance...because I really wish things were different from what they are."

Breathe through all of it. All of it is divinely and humanly you. The sooner we allow our feelings and accept ourselves as we are, the sooner we access our truest, freest selves and can make a clearer determination about what we need and how to move forward.
